Childress Wanted Favre to Come Out of Game!

Favre irked that Childress pondered pulling him

Posted using ShareThis

Now the fun begins. I have the sounds Prima Donna from Phantom of the Opera ringing in my head!
Wrong time of the year for this childish behavior that might of even cost them the game, and what is the point of having a Head Coach if the "Star Player" can do whatever he wants(he's earned that right remember).
It is entertainment after all and after the Packers choked at Pittsburgh this helped tremendously!

Jackson's 'Captain EO' to return to Disneyland!

I was a teenager when this came out, and while I was never a big Michael Jackson fan along with his pretty poor Captain Kirk impression, I remember enjoying this short film that I recall seeing at Epcot Center in Florida.
The 3-D imaging was different than anything 3-D I had seen previously, and the music was pretty good(for the time).
So if you are planning a trip to Disneyland a little moonwalking diversion could be fun!

Dude, They're Putting Pot in More than Brownies!

This is a good article from The Wisconsin State Journal about a new medical-marijuana shop called Ganja Gourmet in Denver.
I guess as the old saying goes anything that uses oregano could be substituted with that wacky weed.
But $89 for a pizza is a little steep. Especially if it works because afterwards you are going to want 4 more of them!

Tiger Woods Agent: Paper 'Falsely Reported' Doc's Connection To Golfer

Tiger Woods agent Mark Steinberg is falling for I am calling a media bait by linking Tiger to a Canadian Doctor Anthony Galeawho who is suspected of dealing HGH(Human Growth Hormone).

The bait is by attacking Tiger professionally that he will be forced to(finally) have a press conference or interview where he will be forced to answer questions about his personal life.

Stay tuned because this maybe covered on television someday.

Really? Was it that bad of a year? No one else in the World made a significant contribution to be considered except a man who pretty much did nothing. Didn't raise interest rates, didn't comply with Congress over audits over bail out money, didn't smile, etc.

Didn't someone in this country win the Nobel Peace Prize? What about those people running that collider in Switzerland, they haven't destroyed the Earth yet they should get some votes. Brett Favre coming out of retirement(again) should get some consideration, and the voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for letting in Abba over Supertramp surely get my vote.
I guess when I really think about it I can't come up with anyone better, which is probably why Time Magazine has been doing this for many years. I should learn to trust them.

Yes! ABBA's Induction into Rock Hall of Fame Gives Me a Supercramp!

Stooges, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, & ABBA Get Rock Hall Of Fame Nods | Billboard.com

My annual discussion about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is here again as another round of inductees are let in while others have not being let in for one reason or another.

My usual debate is that I have no problem of gets in, but who gets left out. I guess that happens to all "Hall of Fames".

I love ABBA, I have all their albums-- I mean a "friend of mine" does. But c'mon man. ABBA, Blondie, Jackson Browne, John Fogerty(while with CCR),THE STOOGES(!!!!) are in, while founders of progressive rocks groups like Yes, King Crimson and Supertramp still wait for an invite.

I fail to recognize this organization until it finds a better method for their flawed induction process.
(There I showed them!)

Al Gore shoots self, climate summit in foot?

More inconvenient truth for Al Gore

Posted using ShareThis

Another perspective in this article from Tech Generation Daily.

Once again Mr. Gore is taking some data and cherry picking for effect some great catastrophe(and yet to prove if losing the ice caps would be a catastrophe).
At least he didn't say the "science is clear", but I was disgusted with his tone of the speech.

I believe that climate change is real(it's been going on for billions of years), and that humans may have some(SOME!) influence.
The science may be clear, but it is not clear how we all perceive that science and data and who is using it and who is profiting from it(Gore!).

Free Calls for a Drum Set!

Here are my links for the week and possible topics for the next Radioaffliction!

  1. Free Drum Set: Interesting set of sounds set to the Qwerty keyboard. You can click or type a sound. Nothing fancy and on some operating systems there is a little bit of a lag, but some of the sounds are so cool that you can forgive some misgivings.

  2. iCall: Free VOIP calls and they really mean free(voipbusters lied to me!) calls for five minutes and really do you need to talk for more than that(most times!). They have three versions, a download(Windows only), a web version(that I haven't had work yet, but maybe because I was on a Linux platform, plus it is still in beta) and a iPhone version. Even though there is a quick 20 second commercial before it connects your call you do get 5 actual calling minutes. Could be better, but it really is free(voipbusters lied to me!) and it gets the job done.

  3. Hey, It's Free!: Great site that lists a bunch of free stuff, samples, surveys, contests, etc. so you don't have to search all over for them. I have gotten free samples, calenders and music from Amazon. I like this site so much I put it on my blog roll on the left side of the web page!

Tweet Radio Makes a Good Soundboard for a Karaoke Bar!

Here are my links for the week and possible topics for the next Radioaffliction!

  1. Tweetradio: Have you heard the bird? Speaks out twitter posts(tweets). Needs a little work on translations, but that's what kind of makes it fun. Plus it sounds like an old radio and since this is The Radioaffliction. We love it.

  2. Google Dashboard: Yes Google knows a lot about you and while some people are freaked out about that, others(like me) give it freely. With Dashboard you are at least given the illusion that you have some sort of control over what information Google has about you.

  3. Free Soundboard!: With this fun site you can play one sound at a time or play different sounds at the same time. You can challenge your moral compass on some of them together or you can actually make some useful sound effects.

  4. Gong!: Ever wanted to Gong someone or something or just needed to release some energy. Well now with the Free Gong button you can Get it ON!

  5. Create Karaoke: Interesting Wikihow post about how to take an .mp3 file and take out the vocals to make a Karaoke track. It does involve using Audacity which has made me cry sometimes, but if you follow the instructions you can use this to enhance your next party!

Quote of the Week: From Fox Sports announcer Thom Brennaman from his old colleague Harry Caray regarding the Brett Favre/Green Bay Packers divorce.

Set Bobby Bowden Free!

Here is a comment I posted on Kody's Sports Korner!, and his feeling that people are overreacting to calls for Head Coach Bobby Bowden to end his long coaching career because he deserves to coach for as long as he wants(regardless for what it is doing to the team) for what he has done for the program.

From Star Trek:"The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few or the one!"

Yes Bobby Bowden saved Florida State football, but that was a very long time ago.

You can't move on to the future or live in the present if you keep holding on to the past.

Looking at the Georgia Tech loss the other night and his interview at the end of the game, he looked totally lost.

Yes in Utopia it would be great if you we could decide for ourselves everything we wish to do or don't whenever we want.
However and fortunately we are not always the best analyst for our decisions.
We are programmed to think that getting fired or dismissed from a program or project is a bad thing, when it can be a realization that we can be whatever or where ever we want to be and that there is more to life than any one thing or place.
Florida State will live on, and I fear Mr. Bowden will go the way of Bear Bryant and won't last long after he would retire. Set him free, and enjoy what you have.

Have a great day!

Update 12/1/09: According to sources Bobby Bowden is expected to announce his retirement.

Not Everything Needs to be Bigger in Texas!

I actually admit that I was quite impressed with The Dallas Cowboys new stadium in Arlington, Texas while watching a preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Fox Sports the other night.

The stadium is huge. I mean really, really big. Something that you would expect from a big State and an owner with a huge ego.
The stadium has something for everyone including the corporate fan, casual fans, and fans that just want to be at the stadium and be a part of it.

There is one flaw. One HUGE, BIG, MASSIVE FLAW!

Hanging from the roof which looks slightly familiar from the old stadium is a HD Scoreboard measuring 160 feet wide and 72 feet tall! It's really big, huge!
In fact it's too huge, too distracting, and it's becoming part the game itself as described in this article from Engadget.

If you are spending huge money(and you will be to go there unless you go to the "party" deck on each end zone) to go to a game, you want to be able to watch the game and not be distracted by a huge television. I have a HD TV at home and that was a one time cost(that my girlfriend paid for) that is spread out over a number of years over thousands of ball games, rather than spending a ton of money for tickets, parking, food and having to sit with Cowboys fans to basically watch HD TV for one game. I know there is a game on the field, but you can't help but watch the screen, even on TV!

I know they won't take it down, there is talk they may raise it. But the point is once again. Bigger is not always better and should not overtake the action on the field. Other than that the stadium looks great, I wish the Cowboys well in their new home(not really), I just wish they would wear their Blue uniforms at home like 90% of NFL teams do!

Death is Still the Leading Cause of Death!

Swine flu has hit! Everyone stay in your homes, don't go to work or school or do anything, don't even breath.
150 people in Mexico, mainly Mexico City have died due to the flu and the time to panic is now!
Wait a minute! My Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy still says "Don't Panic" on the cover.

At last check Mexico City had almost 9 million people living there, do I really have to explain the ratio of people who have died or even suffering from swine flu to the whole swarm of people still living, and didn't we just go through all this with Peanut Butter and Tomatoes.

Yes flu is serious, and I don't intentionally take people suffering or dieing for granted, but the fact of the matter is people die. Everyday so far, and more will today. Some from swine flu, some from another form of flu, others from traffic accidents, electricity and I think there is still at least couple of wars out there, and I'll bet some where in the world a circus clown was trampled by an elephant.

I know it's the job of Local or National newscasts to find a way to make you crap your pants, but the numbers suggest that you will make it through the day okay. In fact I read a book(I'll find it and mention it on the next Radioaffliction podcast)that stated you have a better chance of winning the lottery than being killed by a terrorist. I read another book that stated you have a better chance of being killed by a terrorist than getting married after 40(joke).

So there you have it. You are going to live. Until you don't and then you won't have anything to worry about. You will be another statistic for something and a bunch of people will send their thoughts and prayers to your family.

Enjoy your day!

For the Love of God Use Your $2 Dollar Bills!!!!

Years back I wrote an article entitled No Love for the $2 Dollar Bill in which a Taco Bell manager refused to accept a $2 dollar bill from a customer.

Now comes an article from the Kitsap Sun(?) about a 15 year old boy's collection of $2 dollar bills "allegedly" stolen from his room. $550 worth of $2 dollar bills!

I have said this before and I will say it again until we get it right.
The $2 bill is an active form of currency and is meant to used NOT COLLECTED!!!
Hopefully the money was taken from an estranged parent, who took the money and put into some sort of fund gaining interest and not sitting in a shoebox under the bed waiting to see if they are worth something someday. The fact is they are worth something.
TWO DOLLARS!!

Just think if everyone in the USA that is stashing away their $2 dollar bill took them out, dusted them off and used them, we would probably save the economy. And retailers take notice too. You have room in your cash drawers. That last slot is not for checks or big bills. They are to go underneath the drawer or that secret compartment behind the drawer where you keep rolled coins.
Let's look at the benefit of the $2 dollar bill in a retail environment.
If you are giving the customer back $9 dollars in change it is easier to give the customer back a 5 and two 2's than a 5 and 4 one's. Using the $2 dollar bill helps you use less $1 dollar bills and you make less trips to the bank and that saves energy.
That's right folks, using the $2 dollar bill will not only save The United States economy but it will also save the planet!!!

Take action everyone, get out today and get those $2 dollar bills rolling, keep calling it The Sears Tower and Pluto is a Planet(in Illinois)!

What You Talkin' About Willis!

They say that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and I guess when a building changes names it smells the same too.

But when I heard the news that The Willis Group was purchasing The Sears Tower in Chicago and then renaming it The Willis Tower, I thought to myself something stinks.

I shouldn't be that surprised, nothing is sacred anymore. Sports stadiums change names all the time, so often in fact that I've missed a few and others need to pick one and stick with it. Does anyone really know the name of the football stadium in Baltimore? Candlestick Park has changed names so many times and still nobody cared to the point that they finally gave up and started calling it Candlestick again.

But that is an entertainment venue that relies on advertisement as a means of income.
Does the Willis group really need to show off the fact that they spent a ton of money on a building that they need to re-write the history books?
You wouldn't rename the Golden Gate Bridge, The Empire State Building, The Moon or Lambeau Field would you? Or would you?

Of course there is the arguement that Sears hasn't owned the tower in years and why should they get the free advertising!

The truth is The Willis Group can do whatever they want with their money and call it what ever they want.

I will still call it The Sears Tower and Pluto is still a planet!
So there.

Cold War 2 or Ooops Didn't See Your Satellite?

I'm not one for conspiracy theories, in fact since I have been sitting in on a wonderful course on Physics from the University of California Berkeley I have pretty much ruled out any conspiracy with 9/11, Man on the Moon, The Earth being Flat and Roswell, New Mexico.

When I read the story about the United States(U.S.) and Russian satellites colliding and got the details of the story, it was the Physics that made me go, "Wait a minute, something isn't right here."

Maybe I've been listening to a little too much of Adam Curry on No Agenda or maybe I am just really bored, but when I read that the satellites were in a low Earth orbit bells started ringing in my head and red flags are waving all over the place.
You see if these were "communication" satellites, one would think they would be in a geosynchronous orbit, meaning almost in the same position as if it is almost falling back to Earth(as I understand it). The only things that are usually in low Earth orbits?(Drum roll please)
SPY SATELLITES!!!!!!!!!!

Now I really get to thinking. What if I am a future President of the United States, better yet let's say we have a new President(we haven't had one of those lately have we?), and he is getting to meet his Joint Chiefs of Staff and they present a report to him saying that they believe that a Russian satellite that was rumored to be non-functional is in fact functional and taking pictures of the United States. Not that there is anything really important for them to be taking pictures of, but it would just send a strong message that we know what is going on and that we mean business, and since sending a missile to destroy the satellite would send too strong of a message. We have Johnny Physics guy here who says we can take one of our communication satellites and bring it into orbit with their satellite and kabooom! No one will suspect anything since it has never happened before, and to make it more interesting we will make it sound like the International Space Station(which I hope is in a higher orbit) is in danger of the debris.

Well that almost sounds too good to be true. But since each side is blaming the other for the "accident", it seems like happy days all over again.
I'll go with the official story for now. But watch out I might write about it on my blog. Oh wait.

Anyway food for thought, and that's always healthy.
