Some people will do anything to get noticed. Maybe she will get a guest spot on a show on the CW network!

Daryl Hannah arrested at White House protest

Actress Daryl Hannah has appeared in several films, including

Washington (CNN) -- Actress Daryl Hannah was arrested Tuesday during a sit-in in front of the White House protesting a pipeline expansion project that would significantly increase the amount of oil the United States imports from Canada's controversial Alberta oil sands.

The "Splash" actress was among more than 100 people arrested at the demonstration, according to the group that organized the protest.

A representative for the actress was unaware of the arrest when contacted by CNN Tuesday afternoon.

The State Department is set to issue what could be a final ruling to allow a massive new pipeline expansion from central Alberta to the Gulf of Mexico. A decision is expected by the end of the year, State Department spokeswoman Heide Fulton said at a briefing last month.

Canada's oil sands have drawn numerous critics who say the way the oil is extracted harms the environment.

Why Noah Should Have Had a Final Checklist for the Ark!

17 Traits for Success

The original article is traits for a successful Real Estate Investor, but I found that they are useful for all areas.

1. Don’t Run on Random – If you want to find success in business, dedicate yourself by incorporating these five steps into each day.

  • Focus on your objective and create a plan
  • Commitment to completing the objective 100%
  • Execute the plan to complete the objective
  • Monitor & Adjust
  • Create a Standard Operating Procedure so it can be repeated

2. Learn from the Best – At SREC, we offer different levels of real estate investing coaching. The top level is reserved for the best, most successful investors. They all have the traits on this list in common, so take it to heart.

3. Take Personal Responsibility – Take personal responsibility when something unexpected arises. It’s never the other person’s fault. There is always something you can do to prepare for and prevent whatever circumstances are coming. Always feel like you’re in control. With this attitude, you will never lack the ability to handle a difficult issue, no matter how unexpected.

4. Don’t Expect Failure, But Still Plan for It – Have a backup plan, after backup plan, after backup plan. Always anticipate something going wrong at each step of the process, and put a plan in place to handle it. Work smart – don’t waste time on tasks that are not revenue producing

5. Focus on Revenue Producing Activities – The only thing that generates revenue is focused action on tasks that make money.  Always write down your revenue goal. Each of our top producing coaching clients understands how much they need to make each week to hit their monthly number.

6. Write Down Your Revenue Goal – When you write something done, it seems to have sticking power. It’s a daily reminder that works to keep us accountable.

7. Be Frugal – Avoid spending money if it can be avoided. This is especially important when your business is young. Not only do you need to create revenue, you need to be profitable. If your expenses eat up all your revenue, then that’s not a successful venture for business.

8. Strong Work Ethic – People who are looking to be successful put the time in, make the sacrifices and build upon their successes.

9. Dreamers vs. Doers – You can have a dream, but if you’re a “doer” then that dream is really a goal –– not a fantasy. You know if you’re a dreamer if you’ve had many ideas, but none have ever been realized.

10. The Big Idea – Armchair warriors don’t go far.  It’s never about the BIG idea or the great idea.  It’s about execution. No matter how big your idea is, if you don’t know how to make it happen, how to bring it to life, it’s worthless.

11. Take Personal Responsibility – Take personal responsibility when you fail. With this mindset, you seldom will actually fail. Conduct yourself with confidence and do your due diligence even when you hadn’t closed your first transaction.

12. Have to Succeed – The mindset that we’ve seen our most successful clients maintain, despite whatever challenges they faced, was that they had to succeed.  They always find ways to overcome obstacles, and you need to do this, too.

13. Enjoy Facing Challenges: Don’t Run Away – Successful investors like facing challenges; they don’t back down from any sort of challenge, no matter how imposing.

14. Define Success – Understand how to deal with failure, and they value this as part of the process. No one is successful all the time; failure is a natural part of achieving success. Our top performers make an effort to learn from every mistake, and they use this new knowledge to improve their business.

15. Boundless Curiosity – Always want to be “in the know.”  Always be in a position of learning. Avoid coming across as a know-it-all expert.

16. Never Stop Growing – The minute you think you’re an expert on something and your ego comes out, you’re at the tail end of your experience. Why? You stop seeing, stop listening, and stop learning; therefore, you stop growing. You need to be able to see new opportunities so that you can react immediately.

17. Be Humble – Successful people don’t have to boast. They let their knowledge and action speak more loudly than any words.  They know that they may not have all the answers, but it’s their secret.

An Apple a Day is Only Good for So long!

Every now and then we are reminded that all good things must come to an end and we must move on. I hope Apple can and maybe they already have.

Steve Jobs Resigns as Apple CEO

After several years of failing health and medical leaves of absence, Steve Jobs today announced, "I hereby resign as CEO of Apple."

"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation "to the Apple board of directors and the Apple community." "Unfortunately, that day has come.

"I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee," Jobs added. "As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple."

In a separate release, Apple noted that Cook was, in fact, named CEO, Jobs was elected chairman of the board and Cook was added to the company's board.

"Steve's extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world's most innovative and valuable technology company," said Art Levinson, chairman of Genentech, on behalf of Apple's board. "Steve has made countless contributions to Apple's success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple's immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as chairman of the board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration."

Since 2004, Jobs has battled pancreatic cancer, had a liver transplant and taken multiple leaves of absence from Apple, though he, himself, has released few details of his health struggles.

Jobs, the mastermind behind the iPad, iPod, iPhone, iTunes and so much more of the iconic company's identity, has become an iconic figure in popular technology.

South Carolina Preacher Charged With Kidnapping, Rape

LADSON, S.C. –  Dale Richardson was saved at a tent revival 32 years ago, was called to preach the Lord's word in 2006 and, for the past year, had served as pastor at Freedom Free Will Baptist Church, a modest red brick structure on a South Carolina side road running along a railroad track.

Now he's in jail, charged with kidnapping and raping three women at gunpoint -- two of them in a trailer behind the church -- and kidnapping a fourth who was not sexually assaulted.

Girl Struck by Lightning Twice While in Shower(Duh)!

I am going to sound a tad insensitive, but since nobody died in this story here it goes.

As you read the through the story you will find that the young girl who struck by lightning(twice) almost deserved it.

NEWSFLASH!!: Don't take a shower during a THUNDERSTORM!

Swedish girl zapped by lightning twice

A 12-year-old girl in Gothenburg was struck by lightning twice while taking a shower during a thunderstorm on Wednesday evening.

After dinner 12-year-old Alice went downstairs in the basement to take a shower when her parents heard her scream.

Seconds prior to the child’s outburst two loud claps of thunder had suddenly cracked outside and the rain began to pour.

Alice had been struck by lightning in the arm but her parents did not immediately understand what had happened.

The child’s mother, Cecilia Svensson, immediately went downstairs and began to help wash her daughter’s hair when Alice screamed for the second timed.

“She screamed again. She was holding the metal shower hose while rinsing off,” Svensson, who at this point still did not understand what was happening, told local newspaper Göteborgstidningen (GT).

Peyton Manning Out, Favre In?

Lockout over, preseason in full swing you would think there would be more important things to talk about: But No! Please bring up more Brett Favre talk(sarcasm)! But it does make you wonder how hurt is Peyton Manning?

Amplify’d from www.theredzone.org

As we wrote earlier this afternoon, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay posted on his Twitter account that he was in Brett Favre's hometown, but the quarterback's agent says he has not heard of any interest from the Colts according to the Associated Press.

The 41-year-old Favre retired in the offseason after a 20-year career and lives in Hattiesburg. Irsay sent a tweet on Sunday saying "Brad, I'm in Hattiesburg ... is it right or left at the Firechief?"

Favre's longtime agent Bus Cook said he hadn't spoken with the quarterback in a few days, but the "last time I saw him he was on his tractor mowing the back forty."

Through a spokesman, Colts' general manager Chris Polian declined comment on Irsay's tweet.

Life is Complete! "The Man From Atlantis" is Available on DVD!

For all those who have faint memories of their childhood!

Man from Atlantis

Back in the summer of 1977 if you went to the public pool
that I frequented, you'd see a lot of young boys (especially yours
truly)
diving underwater and moving around like they were having an epileptic
seizure. We weren't having fits, we were
trying to swim link Mark Harris, the Man from Atlantis.
The series started off with not one, not two,
but four made-for-TV movies that were rated highly enough to earn the
concept a
weekly TV series. After that lengthy
trial, you'd assume that the show would get solid ratings.
That wasn't the case. A lower
budget, silly scripts and a villain
who was featured way to often doomed the show to only 13 episodes.

Still fondly remembered (and featuring Dallas
star Patrick Duffy in the title role) the show is at long last
available on
DVD-R from Warner Archives. There are
two sets, the four TV movies and the entire weekly series, and both are
fun
viewing, especially the first collection. (Click on the cover images above to be taken to the Warner Archives page to order them.)

Prosecutors Shot at Clemens in Jeopardy?

I tend to agree with the notion that the Government has wasted time and money pursuing purjury chages, but how can the Defense claim Double Jeopardy if the first trial was declared a mistrial?

Amplify’d from sports.yahoo.com

Prosecutors want another shot at Clemens trial

WASHINGTON (AP)—Prosecutors pursing a perjury conviction against baseball
star Roger Clemens acknowledge they made a critical error that ultimately doomed
their high-profile trial but asked a judge for another chance to convict the
pitching standout of lying about using performance-enhancing drugs.

The U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Columbia filed arguments
Friday disputing Clemens’ position that a second trial would violate his
constitutional protection against double jeopardy by making him face the same
charges twice. The filing is the prosecutors’ first public admission of fault in
the mistrial and first explanation of what went wrong.

They said it was an oversight that they showed jurors evidence that U.S.
District Judge Reggie Walton had ruled inadmissible—evidence that the
defendant’s teammate told his wife that Clemens had admitted using
performance-enhancing drugs.
