Hello, and Happy Monday!

Not much going on today, just a couple things that caught my eye in the funny papers today.

Blast From the Past
This was on the bottom corner of the one of pages in the local paper here this morning, but I found it interesting with all the hurricanes in Florida this season, and now over the weekend over 10 earthquakes ranging from 2.0 to 2.8 at Mount St. Helens has prompted an alert status at the volcano. Now I'm not suggesting an apocalypse, just seems weird that's all, and to find it buried in the headlines. Since the weather channel had reporters at beaches saying "look at the rain!". Seemed like a volcano ready to explode, would be some reporters big chance. FULL STORY

I'm trying to stay away from corny things like "Link of the Week", but I really am having a good time with this site Internet Archve. They have a whole bunch of public domain movies, music, and education programs. The Feature Film section has a ton of old movies that you can stream or download. Most of them are in the "so bad" their good category, but you come across a gem every now and then. My favorite so far is Love Island with a young Eva Gabor. I laughed real hard throughout this one. My buddies and I could make a better picture.
Like I said, they're not all bad and the #1 download in that category is the old animated Gulliver's Travels! So check it out, and if anyone knows of other sites like this please let me know at the radioaffliction Tell Us What You Think! page.
Well that's all I have for today, enjoy your Monday
Until next time,

Good Morning!
And Happy Saturday to you. The weekend is here, and I'm back in my office for what should be another busy yet productive day.

Question of the Day?
It's Yom Kippur! For those of us who are not Jewish, can we use this day has a holy day? Besides fasting for 25 hours after sunset yesterday, in what other ways can we participate? Just asking because I'm sure that Jewish people in some form participate in at least one Christmas activity, not neccesarily because they want to, but because the "so called" Christians stuff it in their face. Even if they don't want to acknowledge it by saying "Merry Christmas", you still are, even by saying "Happy Holiday's!", because which Holiday are you referring to, and when do you ever use such a phrase?(You don't say Happy Holiday's on Presidents Day do you!)
Well anyway, however you celebrate or worship Yom Kippur, enjoy the releasing of your sins. I have to admit that 25 hours straight is better than 1 day a week for 8 weeks(or however long Lent is)!

Moving on, one of the big deals this week in Madison was the standing in lines at the Kohl Center for the seating arrangements for Hockey tickets. Yes that's right folks, nearly camping out, standing in line for hours and hours for tickets they already had, just to find out where they're going to sit. For Hockey. COLLEGE HOCKEY!
Granted that maybe the only hockey there is this year, but doesn't the laundry need to be done, or I don't know maybe CLASS!!

WEEKEND SPORTS!
What would the weekend be without sports, and one of the ways I prepare for my Sunday football, is looking at the Friday USA TODAY and going over the football previews and seeing what games get which announcers. This is very important, almost as important as the game itself. Now in my case for the Packers game, we will have the #1 team from FOX of Joe Buck, Chris Collinsworth, and Troy Aikman. The importance of this is, this should be a game between two good teams, The Packers and the Colts. However if things happen to go wrong in my case, at least there is good announcers to enjoy. Having a bad game and bad announcers is like a double whammy, unless you know ahead of time the game is going to be bad(another reason why I look at the previews). The point I'm really trying to get at here, is that the announcers should fit the matchup. In this example FOX did a good job.
CBS is been having a tougher time with their #1 crew of Jim Nantz,Phil Simms and Bonnie Bernstein(Please Marry Me). Last week they had the Cleveland Browns at the Dallas Cowboys. Not saying these are bad teams, it's just not a marquee match up for a talented crew, and quite frankly it was a horrible game. This week the #1 crew gets those same Browns again at the New York Giants!?! So I'm left to ask why this is the #1 game of the week for CBS!!!!!!
I went through my little preview on the USA TODAY and found four games that were better match ups and better for the sanity of poor Mr.Nantz, Simms and Ms. Bernstein(meet me in Vegas). Even the match up of (0-2)Houston and (0-2)Kansas City is better, San Diego at Denver, Baltimore at Cincinnati(although this is almost even with Browns/Giants) and HELLO Jacksonville (2-0) at Tennessee (1-1)!!!!! A division rival and possible playoff match up. So by CBS thinking, the Browns/Giants is a possible Super Bowl match up???????
Well those are my thoughts for today, if you are celebrating Yom Kippur, hang in there you almost done.
Until next time,
PAC

Hello, I'm putting this back up again. I apologize for not updating this in almost a year, but thanks to those who have checked it out in the past.

So I will try at least to do one daily blog.
Today I'm feeling a little under the weather, but forging ahead anyway.
One thing that I found interesting today while I was paying one of my bills, and I caught it right at the last second, it said please mail payment 7 days prior to due date. Well why isn't that the due date then!

Well if you are a sports fan, this is one of the big weekends(aside from Super Bowl Weekend) with the start of the NCAA Basketball tournament. Every year when this starts, and everyone talks, and fills in their brackets. I keep thinking how much we're missing the boat, and how huge a college football tournament would be!

I had a rather fun experience around the house yesterday, cleaning my carpets! I borrowed one of these Little Green Machines. It's meant has a spot cleaner, but I was having so much fun, I walked around saying "Hey, that needs cleaning!"

Oh well that's the report for now,
Have a great day,

Man Dies After Winning Vodka-Drinking Contest!

I Think it's How he Wanted to Go!

A vodka-drinking competition in a southern Russian town ended in tragedy with the winner dead and several runners-up in intensive care. The competition lasted 30, perhaps 40 minutes and the winner downed three half-liter bottles. He was taken home by taxi but died within 20 minutes. Russians drink the equivalent of 15 liters of pure alcohol per head annually, one of the highest rates in the world. Some experts estimate one in seven Russians is an alcoholic.

Cheese is Addictive as Morphine?! That's Crazy!! GIMME MORE CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A physician claims cheese is as addictive as morphine. Cheese is particularly addictive because it contains small amounts of morphine made in the cow's liver. When the dairy protein breaks apart in the stomach, it releases the opiate molecules. Some of the foods have about one-tenth the strength of morphine, and while that may not sound like much, Dr. Barnard says because the foods are so available it's easy to satisfy a fix. He also says this research could help those fat souls currently suing fast food restaurants by proving the food is addictive like tobacco. But don't expect to see rehab centers for meat eaters. Dr. Barnard says folks will have to break the addiction by changing their diet, exercising and getting enough sleep.

hello, and a good tuesday to you. One of the things that is bothering me are hit exchange sites. I've used these in the past to help generate hits for the website, and create awareness to the site. The concept is great, you view a website (for a least 10 or 30 seconds depending on the site) and in return someone views mine. The problem not enough people use their own sites. They use generic pre-made sites to promote e-biz rotators, MLM's, and other pointless "oppourtinities" in the illusion they're going to make a ton of money. I'm sure some people have been successful at it, but I hope not at the expense of someone else. I especially like(meaning hate) the ones that start out as "Are tired of the Scams!?!" Well thank you for letting me view another one! The whole point of this "information age" is to take your own ideas and be able to communicate them to the world. I realize people need to make money, but be creative for a few minutes in your life. It's just a shame that a well meaning concept to allow people to promote their own websites, have to be flooded with these "Programs", and I'm not sure why the hit exchange programs want them.
Anyway, some hit exchange sites like TrafficG and Trafficswarm have very good search programs that you can find "good" sites. I have made a list of some of them and I will put them on the home page in the next couple of days. I recommend that you at least view and try to support these sites that have taken the time and the work to put something together.
Thanks for letting me vent, and have a wonderful creative day!

Wow, what a day already, and it's only Noon! I went to my first auction today, it was so much fun. Since it was my first time the auctioneer gave me the virgin speech to the whole crowd. He was very funny, and polite, and encouraged me to participate. I didn't get any of the things I wanted (a bunch of CD's, DVD's and a 200 disc sony DVD player), but I did get 2 pairs of ski's for $40! So I may go up to the mountains next week and try them out! I heard from my consulting engineer Jim Reid in California that another Auto Swap meet (where I my got stash of Albums for a crazy price:See Peter's famous reviews:The California albums for the whole story!(at radioafflicton.com of course)) is going on this weekend! Good Luck Jim! That's the report for now, Later, PAC

Saturday, February 22, 2003

Well, it's a happy Saturday today. I was going to get my Colorado driver's license today, but they were closed. I thought everything was open on weekends these days! But it wasn't a complete wasted trip, I was able to get the recycling out, and some food for our cats. I was working on the computer this morning, finishing up some reviews for the website (radioaffliction.com)(another plug), one was for an old Poco album (From the Inside), when I realized what one of my favorite albums of all time is.
Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass: What Now My Love?
I like it because I think it's one of his most upbeat albums, and makes me do funny dances around the house, with songs like "Magic Trumpet" or "Freckles" and my personal favorite "Brasilia" which may rank as one of the greatest songs of all time(the greatest is still ABBA's "Dancing Queen"). Some of Alpert's albums were more mood music to get "In The Mood" if you know what I mean, but this album just gets you kickin, even with his version of "If I Were a Rich Man". I do have a problem with one of the songs, "Five Minutes More". It's a good song but how can it be five minutes more, when it's only 1:53????
Well that's the report for now,
take care

This is my first time doing this so I don't know what to expect, and I hope it's fun and entertaining. Right now I'm listening to an old Frank Sinatra album "Close to You" for a review on my web site(radioaffliction.com)(sorry for the quick plug), which is a pretty interesting album. it's pretty slow (as in mainly ballads), and he doens't have a full orchestra behind him, sounds more like just a quartet, and it would be more enjoyable, but it's the original 1957 release and there's a lot of pops. No scratches, but just a lot of noise. Other than that, it's pretty enjoyable and sounds great in stereo.
Today was spent finishing a few reviews for the page(radioaffliction.com)(there I go again) and posting them. The Romantics (which I didn't want to like), and Supertramp's Breakfast in America (Which I Like too much), and Leon Russell Will O' The Wisp, which I never heard of before, and that sometimes is a fun experience.
Well this has been a fun experience for the first time, I hope you will check it out again,
