I came across this site that had some fun facts, and this one kind of bothered me a little.
An apple, onion, and potato all have the same taste. The differences in flavor are caused by their smell. To prove this - pinch your nose and take a bite from each. They will all taste sweet.
Yes they all taste sweet, but they all taste different, because they're all different chemically, and biologically. The only analogy I can think of is like all snowflakes are different, they look the same(and taste the same actually), but they are all different.
Just a thought.
